In his "harnessing the latest technology for learning & teaching" Russell explores new ways of utilising existing technology. It is all about our learners, not the technology or the learning process because these implementations need to adapt to the learners' individual learning style. By reversing traditional ICT and making it learner centric and fun, learners are engaged on their terms. Evidence suggests that teaching young people to learn a musical instrument improves learning in all subjects. Through lots of live demonstrations Russell explains how delegates could do use each piece of technology in their classrooms. This Russell says "is all about giving your audience an experience not just a presentation, gone are the days when ICT specialists could turn up with just a presentation." Russell will also be featuring elements from BBC jam and the Kinaesthetic Interactive Teaching system known as KIT, playing games and having fun has never been more important. He will also show how PlayStation Portables with their built in wireless capability can be connected to networked services in schools. Russell says "these and mobile phones, hand-held learning devices are pouring through our school gates each morning. We must find ways of using and integrating this technology into our learning spaces of the future."
